Opening of Cobweb Designs in Cygnet

A new gallery, Cobweb Designs, opened in the Main Street of Cygnet on the 21st June. It was a much celebrated affair with the owners Michelle, Susan and Alysia putting a lovely night of food, beautiful music and great company.

I am lucky enough to have a very large glass cabinet for my work where I can display the whole jewellery range!

A Good Way To Vamp Up Your Wardrobe?

If with the changing of the seasons you are looking at your wardrobe and feeling that it is all a bit boring...look no further! I have been very busy of late, creating a range of exclusive jewellery for that very reason. No need to be boring ever again!

All the jewellry is designed and made by me. Developed mainly, from a range of my original drawings and designs,it incorporates many techniques including handpainting. All the earring findings and clasps are sterling silver.

Each individual piece can be worn on plain colours for a more elegant, yet vibrant look or you can wear them with all your funky gear to make a real statement. Play around. Wear the brooches like big buttons or as a scarf pin or put them on your coats and hats for an individual look.

The necklaces can be worn over polo necks or with a plunging neckline. Elegant or casual, the choice is yours! Most necklaces come with matching earrings to make the perfect set.

Currently there are 16 styles in brooches and 24 styles of necklaces with each piece being unique in it's own right. I will let you know where they will be available soon.

Here is just a sneak preview of the range. So, stayed tuned!

Colourful Cards

Hi and welcome,
Just thought I'd give you a peek at a new range of cards I am working on. The range encompasses prints of my original drawings and designs of man-made and natural objects, and also a couple of collages. The print is then mounted onto an array of coloured card and placed on good firm card. They all come with an envelope and in a plastic sleeve. There are currently 11 designs in the range with each design available in several colours.

Southern Exposure Exhibition, Cygnet,Tasmania

"Southern Exposure" Exhibition and Competition put on by Huon Art Exhibition Group (HAEG) opened on Friday night at Cygnet Town Hall. This is a bi-annual exhibition and attracts artists from all of southern Tasmania across many fields with cash prizes totalling $4,700.00. Hundreds of people attended the official opening with the exhibition running for two weeks until Sunday March 21st. This year, I believe, was of a much higher standard than previous with more professional hanging and display of works.

I included two works of mine, "Mondrian Dreaming 1" &  "Mondrian Dreaming 2" both works being drawings in artline pen with gouache.

On the alternate years HAEG runs "Watermark" in March an exhibition with a water theme.

Welcome! A Blast from The Past.

Hi and welcome,

I wanted to share with you a quote from Johannes Itten's Book "The Art Of Colour".  He wrote, "the deepest and truest secrets of colour effect are, I know, invisible even to the eye, and are beheld by the heart alone. The essential eludes conceptual formulation."  I have always felt this, its not just what we see, sight is only one of our senses and only one part of the experience.  Colour can have an effect on all our senses changing our emotions, lifting our heart, with incredible impact.

I studied this book at art school many years ago and have recently gone back to re-read it while studying my current course in design and have found the information to be timeless and exciting.

Because of this reflection on the past, I thought I would take a short walk down memory lane (not in any particular order) and show you some of my past work. My obsession with colour has taken many forms over the years, with some of these disciplines and techniques still used in my work today.
