Interiors

Hi and welcome to the Goddess world of interiors!

Just recently we bought a fantastic little double brick home built in 1959. It has some wonderful original features which we have kept. In true "Goddess of colour" style we have transformed this one into another shrine to colour! Lucky for me my husband, a true god (to colour...but equally in all other aspects) and our daughter, are just as crazy as I am!!

Previously...
In 2006 we bought a1913 weatherboard home and it was literally a dump. Our friends didn't believe us when we told them how bad it was! They soon changed their minds when they walked inside, then they realised we weren't fibbing! We had renovated a couple of times before, but hadn't done anything to this extent.

Always up for a challenge, we bought in the middle of winter, and in our part of the world that means quite a lot of days under 10 degrees. It was really cold. According to paint manufactures it needs to be between 10-30 degrees to paint, well, we really stretched this to the limit.

Along with my husband and daughter, we pretty much did everything ourselves. The garden and the outside of the house were in keeping with the overall standard of "dumpiness" and so we worked on these too, transforming the whole property into a beautiful home. Three years on we haven't finished but we are getting pretty close.

I love making all sorts of furnishings, and transforming "tip shop, and garage sale" finds into funky bits of furniture or transforming them with mosaics for the wall or garden.

So, here are some before and after shots. As you can see I love colour, thankfully my husband and daughter do too!

After all, I am The Goddess of Colour and this is my shrine!

Enjoy!

The sitting/music room before... Hardwood slat walls with, a covering of hessian, five layers of wallpaper and then a few layers of paint!

and after.

The Loungeroom/sunroom, before.... we had cleaned it up at this stage. It had woollen blankets and tarps scewed into the walls, covering all the windows.

and after.

The Bathroom, before...there was no sink, and the shower was leaking through a lead base and had rotted the floorboards.

and after. I did the mosaic on the walls.

Other rooms..... we exposed a fireplace, and baltic pine ceilings and loads of light throughout the house.

The Kitchen....
Old drawers used to make cheap and funky cupboards!
Houn Pine benchtops.

Part of my collection of teapots and cups & saucers, set on a 1970's side-board, which I renovated. We were given the side-board as a house-warming present!

Some pieces on the mantelpiece...
